From Manuscript to Music: Trouvere Chansons

Learn the process of starting with a Trouvere manuscript and transcribing both musical notation and text into a performance. Class will discuss musical notation, rhythmic decisions, and assigning text to music, as well as determining pronunciation of Old/Middle French. Knowledge of modern music theory required (competence in writing modern notation).
