Medieval Harmonies for Bardic Purposes

Or, How to Sing Along on the Wrong Note and Make It Sound Medieval! If you like to sing in the SCA and attend a lot of bardic circles, you’ve probably wondered how people figure out complex-sounding harmony lines seemingly on-the-fly. Understanding some of the basic music theory behind harmony is helpful in learning to think harmonically, making your harmonies sound medieval, and perhaps more importantly, making them sound GOOD. There will be some singing in class; feel free not to sing if you don’t feel ready. You’ll leave the class understanding more about what you hear around the bardic circle.
