"Dance it trippingly": Staging Dances from and for Shakespeare Plays

Shakespeare might include many dances in his plays, but he offers very little direction as to how to do them, although sometimes we can glean hints from the surrounding dialogue. In this workshop, we will confront this difficulty head on by creating our own stagings for several Shakespeare dance scenes. Note: For those fond of capering, there will be a galliard option. This workshop is designed to complement the lecture Dance on the Shakespearean Stage: Text and Context.
