About & FAQ

This is my first SCA event. Where can I find out more info?

The SCA has Newcomer information here. Here you can read about the different activities within the SCA, what to wear to an event and tips to find out more specific information.

What should I wear?

An attempt at pre-17th century clothing is required for the balls/haflas on Friday and Saturday. During the day, period clothing will be admired but not required.  There will be loaner clothes available for use.

How do I get to the site? Parking?

Directions

Do I have to stay in the hotel to attend?

While it is encouraged, it is not required. To get the rate for the conference center and food we need to achieve a certain number of room nights.

Is food provided?

Lunch and some snacks will be provided on Friday and Saturday. Please pre-register to allow an accurate estimate to the hotel. For dinner there are many within walking distance.

Will the food address my diet or food allergies?

If you have specific dietary needs you should plan on taking care of them yourself. The food is being provided by the hotel in a conference/buffet manner and contamination may occur.

What do I need to provide for playing music in classrooms?

We are supplying systems that take an AUX port in. If your device needs an adaptor please bring it.

Will musicians be needed/able to play for the balls and classes?

Yes. Workshops will be offered at the event for musicians so that musicians can prepare. Additionally, musicians will definitely be needed for classes. Please contact the musician coordinator Sophia de Orange for either opportunity using the email link on the Contacts page of this site.

Can I safely store my stuff somewhere if I’m not staying in the hotel?

There is no secure storage. You can leave things at your own risk.

Where can I hang out?

There will be a hospitality area as well as general public space.

Why isn’t a class being taught?

You didn’t volunteer to teach. Please volunteer or encourage others.

Can you tell me about the proceedings (a collection of all the class notes)?

There will be a google drive which we are requesting teachers to upload any class notes they wish to provide.
