OPDB: Pipe and Tabor Practicum
- Robyyan Torr d'Elandris ( D S)
- State Room East on Thursday at 12:00PM
The One Person Dance Band series will educate the participant in historically informed instrumental choice and practice, enabling a solo performer to successfully provide music and rhythm for Renaissance dance. The pipe and tabor is an instrumental combination that lets the musician play melody with one hand and percussion with the other. This session is intended for people that have some experience with pipe and tabor, and interest in broadening and expanding their skills. Topics to be covered will depend somewhat on the interests of the attendees. Advanced drum technique, “other” percussion instruments, practice techniques, playing with a bigger dance band, and learning tunes are all possibilities. Reading music is not required, but may be helpful.
