Vocal Polyphony: Kyrie by Francisco Guerrero

Students will learn the plainchant the Guerrero used as the basis for the piece, and the Kyrie from his 1582 Misa de Beata Virgine II. We will analyze the music, practice singing parts, and discuss how this piece is and is not typical of last 16th century choral music. We will be sight reading, so the ability to read music will be very helpful.
